Living the Christmas Spirit

Park Derochie would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Prosperous New Year

We look forward to working together in 2017

At Park Derochie, we consider all of our clients, vendors and employees our ‘Partners’ and, as such, would like to express our deep appreciation for your contributions, all of which help us to fulfill our Mission to Provide “Best in Class” Services.

Having a corporate culture that holds a strong belief in helping to strength our community by giving back, we are also grateful for the charitable partnerships that we share.

We thought you might like to see the impact your participation has in our community so, in the coming months we would like to take the opportunity to introduce you to some of the charities that you have helped (or can help) support through the Merle Derochie Invitational Golf Tournament which takes place in June each year.

December's Featured Charity - Hope Mission - Kids in Action program

For over 80 years, Hope Mission has been working to break the cycle of poverty for Edmonton's kids, providing hope and a brighter future.

Since 2013 the PDCAC has donated $36,000 to the Hope Mission - Kids in Action program from proceeds of the Merle Derochie Golf Tournament. These donations have provided 24 children in need with after school programs, healthy meals, fitness training, mentorship and support throughout the year.

Sharing the PD Christmas Spirit

Christmas is a time where need becomes even more apparent. It is a season that can be very stressful for families as small budgets are stretched even further. Each year Hope Mission's Tegler Youth Centre hosts an annual Toy Giveaway. They provide a place where parents can take a break, relax, and enjoy a coffee or hot chocolate while they personally pick out gifts for their kids at no cost to themselves.

To allow our employees the opportunity to become more involved with this organization the Park Derochie Community Action Committee put out a call for Toy donations and volunteers.

The response was overwhelming! Park Derochie is made up of some very caring and generous individuals who were spurred to action by a challenge from the Insulation Division. Every department quickly took up the challenge, and toys magically appeared under the trees in both buildings. Challenge issuer, Ron Wettlaufer said it best, "The real winners of this competition were Hope Mission and more importantly the kids."

With donations coming in from both office and field employees, 17 very large bags FULL of toys were dropped off at the Hope Mission Tegler Youth Centre for their Toy Giveaway.

In addition to providing toys and gifts to the Hope Mission, a group of 12 volunteers also took the opportunity to assist at the Tegler Youth Center during the giveaway. These individuals provided Childcare, Gift Wrapping, Shopping Assistance and Snacks.

Many people only think of Hope Mission as an organization that feeds the hungry but it was an absolute pleasure to work with Hope Mission staffers and have a chance to see, first hand, so many kids enjoying the activities, facilities and mentorship that this preventative program provides. The respect and dignity that everyone at the Tegler is offered is both heartwarming and commendable.

We are truly proud to support such an amazing organization.
