What You'll Do

  • Work closely with British Columbia Sr. Estimator (when applicable) and British Columbia division Manager to determine scopes of work to ensure proper bidding strategies;
  • Responsible for organizing systems to pursue leads for additional RFQs, RFPs, Tenders for the British Columbia division;
  • Complete all aspects of large complex British Columbia RFP’s / RFQ’s;
  • Prepare and complete estimates with a detailed review with British Columbia Division Manager of proposal specifications, drawings, quantity take-off, costing, generation of proposal documents, and contract review from assignment through to bid closeout;
  • Compute cost factors, develop work execution strategies for British Columbia division;
  • Prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, plan for additional resources, develop realistic action plans for the British Columbia division;
  • Communicate with customers during bidding process and attend meetings related to project’s bidding;
  • Generate bid proposals and provide follow up with the customer through bid closeout for the British Columbia division;
  • Ensure estimates reflect current and projected industry trends;
  • Coordinate and manage estimating meetings to co-ordinate activities between all estimators, as required;
  • Coordination with other internal division personnel to ensure bids are fulsome, accurate, and competitive
  • Coordination with and management of subcontractors
  • Work with management teams and clients to ensure all cost controls are being dealt with in a timely and accurate fashion;
  • Ensure internal controls and guidelines are being met and followed;
  • Review project documents, specifications, and contractual documents are in order to provide and prepare accurate and comprehensive cost control analysis;
  • Monitor the detailed construction process of each project to ensure full adherence to work plans within agreed budget and resources;
  • Responsibility for the preparation, accuracy, coordination, and review of British Columbia bids
  • Ensure product meets project requirements;
  • Facilitating the definition of project scope vs non-scope, and ensure company goals and deliverables are achieved;
  • Coordination with other internal division personnel to ensure multi-division bids are fulsome, accurate, and competitive
  • Provide support to project team and ensure all appropriate documentation is completed in a timely fashion to meet company expectations and deadlines;
  • When required, build and present marketing and technical presentations;
  • Work closely with the Company in all its geographical locations
  • Maintain a demeanor that is consistent with the nature of this position;
  • Ensure all documentation and files are maintained properly for each project;
  • Ensure corporate safety, quality, and training policies and general practices are adhered to;
  • Uphold commitment to safety and demonstrate ongoing practices to maintain relevance;
  • Such further duties as may be assigned or directed by the Company from time to time

What You Need to Have

  • Familiar with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
  • Good planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Written communication skills.
  • The ability to read and interpret construction drawings is required.
  • Experience in estimating and bidding in the construction industry is required
  • Experience in estimating and bidding industrial coatings is strongly preferred; commercial coatings experience is also an asset.
  • Project Coordination or Project Management experience is an asset.
  • Technical knowledge of industrial coatings systems is an asset.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a commitment to service excellence for the client.
